Tuscany

A quick guide to Tuscany

Tuscany is one of the most prestigious regions of Italy, it has a very strong position in the history of art and culture, and also has its own particular flavour of Italian food and wine. Visitors to Tuscany will find that this large region of Italy has much to offer, from Mediterranean coastal beauty to inland vineyards and delicious food and drink every day.

Many visitors to Tuscany come with the intention of experiencing some famous works of fine art in person. Tuscany is the home of several major museums that together play host to some of the world’s greatest collections of influential works of art. For example, the Uffizi Gallery in Florence is one of the most visited art galleries in any part of Italy, and inside it visitors will find unique works of art from some of the most famous artists, including greats from the Renaissance period. For fans of sculpture, the Galleria dell’Accademia is a must see, as it houses the famous David statue by Michelangelo. This statue has been a key part of the collection since 1873, when it was moved from its former position in a plaza in order to preserve it for posterity.

Tuscany holidays have so much to offer when it comes to outdoors activities. For lovers of simple hiking trips, Tuscany is one of the best places in Italy to visit. The northern Italian landscape features many rugged hills and mountains, while staying thick with vegetation and forests.
